Peter Matthews is one of South Africa's most respected film and commercials director's. He has conceptualized and directed many of his own commercials that have received international award recognition. During his time as partner and creative head of Matthews & Charter, Ogilvy & Mather ad agency, Peter developed a passion for story-telling and directing commercials.

After selling out his shares in the company to Ogilvy, Peter directed multinational brand commercials. Peter's creative ability and directing talent won him a Vuka award for writing and directing the Alzheimer's "Don't Forget" ad, which was also a finalist at Cannes 2004.

In 2006, Peter embarked on his first feature film, "Oil on Water", which was completed in 2007 and released theatrically at NuMetro and Ster Kinekor cinemas nationally in October 2007. It has gone on to be awarded Best Feature Film at the Everglades International Film Festival with official nominations and selections at nine other International Festivals. The film is now in distribution world-wide.

In 2010, Peter changed direction with the type of work he was directing, and working with Green Shoot Films embarked on a new type of production ethic. Green Shoot Films handle all productions in a green and ecologically sound way. Their productions are not only environmentally aware, but have substance and meaning. He has just completed a project with the South African Justice department on Human Trafficking.

He is also in production on a documentary in Namibia called "The Miracle of Kavango" about the upliftment of a community in Namibia.
